Youth Advisory Board (YAB) Members attend exclusive meeting with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
Thanks to a generous grant from the Mazda Foundation (USA), YAB Members convened in Washington, D.C. for ASAS’ annual YAB summit to participate in advocacy, leadership, and community service training. YAB members met Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and shared what they love about ASAS programs. They also toured the White House, met with congressional representatives from their home states and presented advocacy campaigns to ASAS partners including leadership from Afterschool Alliance, D.C. Children and Youth Investment Trust, C.S. Mott Foundation and National Afterschool Association.
Students left feeling empowered and inspired; ASAS Los Angeles YAB Member Citlali sums it up best, “Because of ASAS, I feel like I’m important, that my opinion matters. I’m so fortunate to have been chosen to be a YAB member. I feel happier, more social and more knowledgeable.”
Thank you again to the Mazda Foundation (USA) for helping build a better tomorrow.
